Riyadh-based Al Nassr were leading 1-0 and seconds away from defeating local rivals Al Hilal, who are second in the league, when Bento fumbled an overhead save into his own net during the highly anticipated clash on Tuesday.

Before the dramatic finish, Al Nassr looked set for victory after Mohamed Simakan slotted home a rebound in the 37th minute.

Al Nassr remain top of the league table with 83 points from 33 matches, while Al Hilal are second with 78 points from 32 games.

A victory would have secured Al Nassr’s 11th league title and Ronaldo’s first major domestic trophy since joining the Saudi club in January 2023.

Barring a shock result against 15th-placed Damac in their final league game, Al Nassr remain favourites to clinch the title on May 21.
