HC: Gopi not to attend selection meetings

The Bombay High Court said yesterday that Badminton Association of India's (BAI) chief national coach Pullela Gopichand will have to stay away from selection meetings following player Prajakta Sawant's allegation of harassment against the former All-England champion.


A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice AV Mohta asked the BAI to consider 19-year-old Sawant for selection in upcoming tournaments based on her last two years' performance.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Sawant, who had accused Gopichand of mentally harassing her after she was refused entry to the national coaching camp held in Hyderabad.u00a0
