Canadian wrestler Allie, a former Knockouts champion, has come up the hard way. Having faced harsh criticism from her naysayers, the 29-year-old has given a kick to critics and has excelled in the male-dominated sport for the last 13 years.

"I was told I was not pretty enough. I wasn't in a good shape and my legs were too short. I got questions like, 'You are still doing wrestling? When are you going to get a real job?' But you have to believe in yourself more than anybody else. You can't surround yourself with people that don't believe in you. You have to stay determined and believe in yourself. Your dreams will become a reality. I am living proof," Allie, currently with Impact Wrestling, who is in the city for a promotional event, said yesterday.

Allie turned vegetarian when she was 14, but for the past few years, she has been a vegan. Visiting India for the first time, she didn't take any risks with the food and came prepared with half her suitcase full of protein powder, rice cakes, peanut butter and oat meal. But she was left mesmerised by Indian food.

"The chefs made me a curry stir fry with tofu and all kinds of vegetables and rice. It was amazing. Everybody has been so accommodating," Allie said.

The full of excitement wrestler, who heads back home today, wishes to visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra someday.
