Karnataka's Avani Udipi, 20, emerged triumphant in the All India Chess Masters tournament, a Mumbai FIDE rated classical chess tournament, recently.

Avani, who picked up the top prize of Rs 30,000, finished with an identical seven points to Maharashtra's Mayuresh Parkar. However, she was declared the winner based on her high tie-break score. Avani finished with a tie-break score of 36.5 compared to Parkar's tie-break score of 32. Parkar was awarded a prize cheque of Rs 20,000 for second place.
