The 90-year-old represented the country at the 1960 Rome Olympic where India won silver after losing to arch-rivals Pakistan 1-0 in the final. He was also a part of the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta where India finished runners-up. Joe was a Jr Shop Superintendent at the Parel workshop before he retired from Western Railway in 1986.
Talking about his medical condition, Antic's son William, who works as a Railway Ticket Collector (TC), said, "Dad had issues with his knee for the last few years, but he was walking with the support of a stick. On July 4 he complained about issues with breathing. That's when we got him here and he was admitted to the ICU. He was put on oxygen but it is off now. We pray that he recovers soon," William said.
