Madrid: Roger Federer clinched his 85th career title in Istanbul on Sunday but remains second in Monday's unchanged ATP singles rankings, still led by Novak Djokovic.

The 27-year old Serb holds the top spot for the 40th consecutive week, more than 5,000 points ahead of the Swiss star with Scot Andy Murray completing the podium ahead of his rain-delayed Munich final against Philipp Kohlschreiber, the world number 24 from Germany.

With the Madrid Open Masters Series tournament taking centre stage this week, Spain's Rafael Nadal remains fourth, in front of Kei Nishikori of Japan and Milos Raonic of Canada.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams continues to lead the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings as world number one with 9,981 points in the fresh rankings.

In this week's rankings, 10th-seed Spanish Carla Suarez was replaced by German Andrea Petkovic, reports Efe.

Williams is followed by Romanian Simona Halep with 7,755 points and Russian Maria Sharapova with 7,525.
