Dressed in a business suit KC College coach Zhoyeb Shaikh was over the moon yesterday as his team turned back time clinching the District Sports Office (DSO) boys' U-19 football title at Azad Maidan, after a gap of 14 years

Shaikh, who lead the team to glory the last time KC won the title in 1998, gave full credit to his wards who beat HR College 4-2 via tie-breaker.

"It was a close match, as both the teams were on the same level. Every player played his part to perfection. I am a content man today. My happiness has been doubled having won this title both as a captain (defeating Burhani College) and as a coach today," Shaikh (31) told MiD DAY, even as he went on to praise his man of the moment, goalkeeper Ayush Pereira.

After the keenly contested final ended 0-0 at regulation time, Sajid Khan, Shawn Fernandes, Bebito Fernando and Hussein Vahanvaty were on target for K C College in the tie-breaker, while only Rayomond Unwala and Akhil Kothari managed to find the back of the net for HR. Porus Shroff and Nikhil Shetty failed to score for HR, while Bryan Mathew missed his attempt for KC. "Ayush was THE man for us today. He kept his calm under the bar," said Shaikh.

Speaking of his formal outfit, Shaikh said he did it to fulfil a promise he made to his team. "I know that in our country even the I-league coaches do not wear a suit for their matches. But I beg to differ. It doesn't matter what level the match is. I wore this for two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to portray a professional approach and secondly because I had promised my players that I would wear a suit if they entered the final," Shaikh signed off.u00a0
