Gold for Anjana Thamke in 800m at Nanjing

Fifteen-year-old Anjana Thamke won India's third gold medal at the Asian Youth Games by setting the fastest time in the girls' 800 metres final here yesterday.


Anjana set a personal best time of two minutes 11.47 seconds, winning the race by almost three seconds. Jogindr Savinder Kaur of Malaysia came second with 2:14.14 while Sri Lanka's N Dilhani Fernando secured bronze with 2:15.72.

Squash player Kush Kumar got India's first gold in theu00a0tournament. Indians are participating as Independent Olympic Athletes as the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is suspended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).u00a0
