US basketball legend Magic Johnson recently celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Earleatha âCookie' Johnson. "Happy 35th anniversary to my forever love, Cookie. 35 years of you choosing me, building with me, and holding this family together with a grace I'll never take for granted. You've been my partner in every real sense of the wordâ¦through the years that made the highlight reels and the ones that didn't," Magic wrote on Instagram.
Magic and Cookie were college sweethearts before they got married on September 1991. A few weeks later, the LA Lakers legend learned he was HIV-positive. The news became global headlines. With Cookie by his side throughout, Magic has not only battled the ailment, but also gone on to build a multi-million dollar business empire.
"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. I love you more today than the day I put your ring on your finger," added Johnson.
