The Maharashtra men's badminton team bagged the gold medal at the West Zone Inter-state Badminton Championship 2025 in Goa recently.

The state's boys beat Chhattisgarh 3-1 in the final. Maharashtra's Varun Kapur first lost his singles tie to Chattishgarh's Rounak Chauhan 8-21, 15-21 before Darshan Pujari beat Harshit Thakur 21-15, 21-16.

In the doubles, Maharashtra's Viplav Kuvale and Viraj Kuvale beat MV Abhishek and Sujey Tamboli 21-11, 18-21, 21-14 after which Sankalp Gurala beat Harshal Bhoyar 21-13, 21-14. Maharashtra's junior girls team also won the gold medal, beating Chhattisgarh 2-1 in the final.
