The AOC has also banned them from using social media for the duration of the Olympics after they posted pictures online of themselves with high-powered weapons in a US gun shop while competing in events leading up to the Games.

On their return home to Australia on Friday D'Arcy and Monk apologised for posting the photo with the guns, saying it was just "a bit of fun".
But the AOC has cracked down to ensure there is no repeat of their antics and once they have competed in the Games, which begin in London next month, they will be packed off home.

Team Chef de Mission, Nick Green, sent a letter to both athletes explaining the AOC's decision. "Given this incident and our previous discussions concerning your conduct, I now have concerns regarding your lack of judgement," the letter said. "As I have reminded you on previous occasions, it is an honour and a privilege to be a member of an Australian Olympic Team.
Australian Olympians are required to meet very high standards of conduct and we cannot risk the reputation of the team through non-compliance with the Team Membership Agreement."u00a0
