Despite winning gold in the District Sports Office (DSO) inter-school athletics meet high jump girls U-17 event yesterday at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kandivli, Ryan International's (Malad) Rene Desai was a bit disappointed as she missed out on bettering her personal best by a whisker. Rene managed to post a height of 1.55 metres.

She was just 0.01 metres short of her personal best of 1.56 m which she achieved in January at the 61st National Schools Athletic Championships in Kerala.

"It was a bit disappointing. I tried to get a new personal best. It did not happen but it's fine," the 15-year-old Desai told mid-day yesterday.

The disappointment aside, Rene is looking forward to progressing in other national tournaments. "It feels good winning today. I am confident I will reach another national tournament as well," she added.
