Novak Djokovic has distanced himself from his father Srdjan's negative comments about Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal -- implying the two men are jealous of his son's success.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic has said that he is sorry for the words that his father Srdjan spoke about Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal not being a sport and that he has had good and fair relationships with his colleagues so far.

According to Tennis.com, Srdjan told the newspaper Kurir recently, "Federer is perhaps still the best tennis player in history, but as a man he's the opposite.

He attacked Novak at the Davis Cup in Geneva (in 2006), he realised that he was his successor and was trying to disparage him in every way. Novak's success is an amazing thing and something that Federer cannot understand."

Srdjan also told the Serbian newspaper that his son's relationship with Rafael Nadal has changed for the worse.

"[Nadal] was his best friend while he was winning. When things changed, they were no longer friends," Srdjan said. "This is not sport."

Djokovic expressed that as unfortunate as it sounded, he could not be responsible for his father's deeds and for his words because everyone, including him, was entitled to their own opinion.

Djokovic said that his father had helped him a lot in his career and he did not have any influence on his recent statements.u00a0
