United Kingdom's Olympic hero Mo Farah revealed yesterday how US border officials quizzed him on suspicion of being a terrorist.

Farah, a double gold medal winner at the London Olympics, told The Sun yesterday he was hauled up by guards while entering the US for a holiday this Christmas owing to his ‘Somalia origin'.

The 29-year-old eventually had to resort to showing his Olympic medals in an effort to prove who he was. Farah moved to the UK with his British-born father when aged only eight.

Farah also revealed how, on a previous visit to the US, he was asked to leave before receiving a letter explaining that he was ‘under investigation as a terrorist threat'. Farah said: "I couldn't believe it. Because of my Somali origin, I get detained every time I come through US Customs." Farah trains in the US and had moved there after failing to qualify for the 2008 Olympics.
