Sania fails to make Miami main draw

Sania Mirza failed to make the singles main draw of the Miami WTA Premier event after a 2-6, 4-6 defeat against 10th seed Sloane Stephens in the second and final qualifying round.

Sania is scheduled to play the doubles event along with Russian partner Elena Vesnina. The third seeds open their campaign against Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Czech Lucie Safarova.
