As world number five in badminton, Peter Gade from Denmark plans to retire after the 2012 London Olympic Games, CS peeks into his life and career till date:


>> Peter Høeg Gade was born on December 14, 1976, in Aalborg, Denmark. He is of a Danish descent and currently resides in Holte in Copenhagen.



>> Peter started playing badminton at the age of six.

>> He plays for the Gentofte BK club.

>> Apart from playing badminton, Peter pursues music, wine and cooking as his hobbies.

>> He has two children - Nanna, and Alma, with the former handball player Camilla Høeg.

>> Gade made his mark in badminton history through his through his All-England title in 1999 and his five european crowns in the men's single event.

>> He topped the world rankings from 1998 to 2001.

>> With his 16 Grand-Prix titles, he has become one of the most successful players of all time.

>> He has bagged the Special Award of the DBF 2006 and the IBF World Badminton Player of the year 1998 awards.

>> Peter plans to become a professional badminton coach after retirement and to take care of his family, especially his two daughters.

>> He won all four men's singles matches for Denmark at the recent Sudirman Cup.

>> He also has a special dedication to promote his sport and has been involved with many activities to develop the sport amongst youngsters.u00a0
