Current world champion Jaismine Lamboria has secured the number one spot in the women's 57kg division, while Asian champions Priya Ghanghas (60kg) and Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) have surged into the top three of their weight classes in the latest World Boxing rankings.
The updated World Boxing ranking highlights India's incredible depth in the sport. Indian boxers have earned positions in the Top 10 across nine of the 10 women's weight categories and eight of the 10 men's weight groups.
In the women's section, Minakshi successfully held onto her World No. 1 status in the 48kg class, and Preeti Pawar moved up five spots to take third place in the 54kg division. Jaismine, who took home a silver medal at the Asian Championships earlier this year, climbed one position to lead her weight category. Furthermore, World Cup podium finishers Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Pooja Rani (80kg), and Nupur (+80kg) all achieved the second-place ranking in their respective fields.
The two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen (51kg), who missed out on qualification for this year's Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, dropped one spot to fourth. Meanwhile, Olympic medal-winner Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) maintained her grip on the seventh position.
On the men's side, Sachin Siwach (60kg) and Asian Games medalist Narender Berwal (90+kg) successfully forced their way into the top five. World Cup gold winner Hitesh Gulia (70kg) slipped one position to sixth, while Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) claimed the eighth spot. Akash (75kg) and Lokesh (85kg) also made their presence felt by entering the top 10, with both securing the eighth position.
Thanks to these collective achievements, India now ranks third in the world for the total number of athletes positioned within the top 10. India is a major powerhouse in women's boxing, where it ranks second in the world, and maintains a highly competitive fourth position in the men's ranks.
For the women, Parveen (60kg) holds the 13th spot, and Ankushita Boro (65kg) sits at 11th. For the men, Ankush (80kg) is right on the edge of the elite group at 11th, while Deepak (70kg) finds himself at 12th.
