Does the festive season make the introvert in you anxious? Here are five ways for you to have a pleasant time during Ganeshotsav

Skip the evening rush

This is perhaps the most important step you can take. Try visiting the pandals in the afternoons. Sure, they look more beautiful at night, but they're also much more crowded. You're overwhelmed by the crowd, the noise, the sweat, the endless queues. Get your darshan in the absence of these distractions. This may sound anti-social, but it's the perfect loophole for an introvert. Be back home before the queues and traffic ruin your experience.

Find time with Ganesha

Religiosity is a diverse concept. Some people like to pray in groups, while introverts may often prefer a quieter and more personal experience. You don't have to force yourself to pray like others do. Try finding your own time with Ganesha, whenever there aren't people around. It doesn't matter how long you pray, just do away with all distractions: your phone, family, and relatives, and spend your time in meditative devotion. It's quite grounding and refreshing.

Do not give into pressure

Learn to say that dreadful syllable - no. Easier said than done, of course. But this is a time when you will be pressured into going somewhere even though you're tired, or maybe told to talk to an annoying relative when tolerance is at an end. A simple ‘Not now. I'll visit that place tomorrow,' is perfectly valid. You're just respecting the wishes of your exhausted body and brain.

Divide and live

The day is too short to do everything. One second you're talking to a friend, the next you have to do something else, and then you've to go somewhere else. Congratulations, you're too tired to read. You just don't feel like studying now. You're too sleepy to even write two lines about your day in that journal. Divide your day in a way where you can go outside, meet people and also continue with your non-negotiables. A good strategy can help you preserve your stamina and give you time to do what you owe yourself.

Talk to the gang

Not every reunion ought to happen in the limited time you have. Spend your social battery on your family, your best friends, your favourite cousins - all the people who bring you the most joy. No need to have chore-like conversations, awkward silences or obligatory small talk.
