Cities in fiction is an ongoing experiment developed by Apoorva Saini and Divya Ravindranath, that aims to create an archive that locates real-world places in literature. They are collecting all kinds of places that one encounters in fiction: be it villages, towns or cities. You can also help contribute to the development of this super cool project by adding all kinds of places that you might come across in literature! Their end goal is to create resources that are available to everyone.

CIGGIES getting too expensive but still need that mid-work buzz you get on puffing? Zelo India has a bubble wand shaped like a cigarette. Full marks for the realism! It's a more wholesome way to puff out your stress and watch it float away in bubbles. Sometimes, all you need is that familiar action of holding one in your hand, or between your lips, so your brain can chill out for a moment - a smoker's mudra, so to speak. The bubble wand replicates that feeling, even encourages relaxation through slow, deep breaths. For R899 for a set of three wands, at the very least, it's a fun gag gift that'll make your smoker friend smile. And who knows, maybe it'll convince them to quit!

Less than a year ago I had bought a brand-new Boat speaker at almost R300 and it blissfully conked off. Even though I am barely home for most weekdays(like most of Mumbai) I use the bluetooth speaker during my âtherapy cleaning' on weekends. Cleaning up my closet, removing curtains and dumping them in the laundry and then finally ordering a treat post the cleaning rituals were accompanied by the Bluetooth speaker. Unfortunately, the speaker breathed its last around six months ago and it was the same time that a office garage sale happened and I found another bluetooth Boat speaker and hesitantly picked it up at a steal of R400. Original price was R1500 but it now retails at R737. A kind colleague who barely used it and bought it only a few months ago agreed to the price, and thank god they did. The speaker is marvelous and is not made of plastic but a sort of foamy material. So when the speaker does fall, it doesn't crack - small mercies, I guess. Sometimes you don't need to have the latest and the most expensive of everything.
