Love Bad Bunny so much that you could do a PhD on him? Well that's not a far-fetched dream anymore. In 2023, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles began offering a course called "Bad Bunny and Resistance in Puerto Rico". After he dropped his magnum opus, DtMF, Yale University began offering a course called "Bad Bunny: Musical Aesthetics and Politics".

Mr Streaming Giant

From 2020 to 2022, Bad Bunny has been the most streamed artiste on Spotify. In 2023 and 2024, he was overtaken only by one Taylor Swift (those swifties go hard!). But in 2025, the Grammy winner was back on top with close to 20 billion streams. Talk about a global superstar!

I can't pee! I'm watching Bad Bunny

NYC Water says the city saw a noticeable drop in water use across all five boroughs during Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show, then a massive spike as soon as it ended. In the 15 minutes after the performance, NYC Water said the jump in usage was equivalent to 7,61,719 toilets flushing across the city. Seems like people were so fixated by Bunny's performance that they were holding their pee, just so they don't miss a second. This was our Super Bowl, indeed!

A political king

In 2019, Puerto Rico's governor Ricardo Rosselló's chats got leaked where he was seen saying homophobic and misogynistic slurs. There were chats of public officials joking about dead bodies that were collected at a government facility. Bad Bunny, along with rapper Residente and singer iLe, released the protest song Afilando los Cuchillos (Sharpening the knives), which became an anthem in demonstrations. Bunny even paused his Europe tour to join his people in protests.

The lore behind the name

Like many of us, Bad Bunny's mom too forced him to put on costumes and play dress-up as a child. One of these costumes was of a rabbit, which he put on after much resistance. A picture was clicked, and the moment was locked forever. After many years, Benito Ocasio found the picture of him begrudgingly looking into a camera with a rabbit costume, and he decided to go by "Bad Bunny".
