Tech company Nothing has expanded its smartphone range with an all-new mid-price smartphone, ‘Nothing Phone (4b)'. The latest introduction by Nothing marks the debut of the company's new "(b)" series. Positioned as a more accessible entry point into the Nothing ecosystem, the phone combines the brand's signature transparent design language with upgraded performance, AI features, and what the company claims is the largest battery ever fitted in a Nothing smartphone.

Launching the smartphone on Tuesday, Nothing said the Phone (4b) builds on the success of the Phone (4a) series while bringing several flagship-inspired features to a more affordable price segment.

Design

The Phone (4b) retains the transparent design language introduced with the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro. It also features Nothing's refined Glyph Bar lighting system on the rear and a unibody design, continuing the brand's distinctive aesthetic.

According to Nothing, the final design was selected from more than 20 internal prototypes and features an eco-polycarbonate body, a transparent camera module and a fingerprint-resistant coating. The device carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance and is available in black, white and blue.

In what could be a game-changer for Nothing, the smartphone has come up with a limited Phone (4b) RCB Edition. The special version comes in an exclusive red finish with RCB branding and collector's edition packaging and is being sold through a limited drop at Nothing's flagship store in Bengaluru.

Performance

The Phone (4b) is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, built on a 4nm process. According to Nothing, the chipset delivers performance close to the Phone (4a) and achieves an AnTuTu score of over one million.

To make it a standout choice for gamers, Nothing has also integrated a 4,400mm² vapor chamber cooling system, designed to reduce thermal throttling during gaming and video recording. The device supports up to 90 FPS in games such as BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile, and up to 120 FPS in selected titles.

Battery

The standout hardware feature is the 6,000mAh battery, the biggest ever in a Nothing phone. According to the company, it can deliver up to 18 hours of mixed usage, 22 hours of YouTube playback, and 26 hours of Instagram browsing. The phone supports 33W wired fast charging, reaching 50 per cent in under 30 minutes.

Camera

Considering that camera performance on any smartphone needs to be top-notch, the Phone (4b) offers a 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), accompanied by an ultrawide camera with a 119-degree field of view.

The device also includes Nothing's TrueLens Engine 4 computational photography system and Ultra XDR imaging, which combines multiple RAW frames to improve dynamic range.

Video capabilities include 4K recording at 30fps, OIS and EIS stabilisation, and a dual video capture mode that records simultaneously from the front and rear cameras.

Price

In India, the Nothing Phone (4b) has been launched at an MRP of Rs 34,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs 38,999. However, as part of the launch offers, customers can purchase the smartphones at effective prices of Rs 29,999 and Rs 33,699.
