I have a huge crush on a guy, but my friend thinks he's wrong for me and doesn't want me to date him. I am okay with listening to her, but I also think I should go out a few times just to see if what she's saying about him is right. I know this will upset her, but I want to be able to make up my own mind about people even if I trust her judgement. I have agreed to see him in a week and have to keep this a secret from my friend because she thinks I have taken her advice. How do I manage the guilt I am feeling by hiding this from her? I know I am doing nothing wrong, but she cares about me and I am letting her down in some way. What should I do?
If part of you wants to make up your own mind, and you don't want to feel as if you are letting your friend down, the smartest thing to do is have a talk about this. If you have to hide your feelings or how you really feel about something, your friendship isn't as strong as you think it is and needs to be worked on. It's okay to have a different point of view, just as it's important for your friend to understand that you don't have to accept any advice unless you believe in it. Tell her how you feel and ask for understanding because that will teach you both something about each other.
My boyfriend and I broke up because we wanted to date other people but the person I went out with just dumped me a week ago. I am now single, but my ex is with someone he began dating a month ago. I want to get back with him but feel as if I messed this up permanently. What should I do?
This was a mutual decision so you will have to accept the way things turned out.
