Police raided a residential tower in Oshiwara yesterday and recovered a huge collection of pornographic movies. Misti Mukherjee, an actress, and her friend were in the house when the police raided it.

Acting on a tip-off, cops showed up at flat number 1502 of Meera Tower, where Misti stays with her parents and brother. The 35-year-old, who made her debut in a 2012 film Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi, was found in her room along with her friend Rakesh Katoria. Her parents, Chandrakant Mukherjee (62), and mother (59) and 30-year-old brother, Samarth, were also in the flat at the time.
Katoria claims to be a fashion designer from Delhi. During their search, cops also found more than 25,000 CDs of pornographic films in the apartment. Police were tipped off by a source, who told them that a prostitution racket was allegedly being run from the flat. Officials were stunned when they found out that the flat belongs to O P Gupta, the general manager of the civic bus trasnport authority, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). Gupta claimed he was completely unaware about the goings-on at his apartment.

“I gave the flat for rent seven years ago to the Mukherjee family, for a sum of Rs 80,000 per month. I had no idea what was going on in my house,” said Gupta, adding that he would throw out his tenants after this incident. Police suspect the entire family is involved in a flesh trade racket. During interrogation, family members revealed that they purchased porn films from the South, copied them onto separate CDs and sold them at various places in the city and in Thane district.
When questioned, Samarth denied allegations of flesh trade and told the police, “I’m diabetic and have no interest in sexual activities. The doctor has declared me impotent. I myself have bought all these CDs, as I like to watch them.” As per his statement, Katoria, who was found with Misti in the room, is a cousin.

“As per our information, we raided the flat and found porn CDs, a laptop, hard disc and a CD writer from the flat. All of it has been seized and will be sent for further investigation,” said senior inspector Nasir Pathan from Oshiwara Police station. Police have booked the father and son, while Misti and her mother were detained, cops said.
The two accused were booked under section 292 (sale of obscene material) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66 (A), 67 (A), and 67 (B) of the IT Act. The duo will be produced in court today. “We will verify all the seized material. If anything is found suspicious, we will book the actress and her mother as well,” Pathan added.
