The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested two ward boys working for Golkuldas Tejpal Hospital near Crawford Market in south Mumbai on Tuesday morning for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a journalist to issue a medical certificate.

The ward boys, Santosh Narvekar and Pradeep Shirke, allegedly demanded Rs 2,000 from a patient, who had undergone treatment for throat infection at GT Hospital. The two refused to clear the certificate till the money was paid to them. Following the demand, the complainant informed the ACB officials.

On Tuesday morning, the ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Narvekar red-handed while accepting the amount from the complainant. The ACB officials said that soon after accepting Rs 2,000, Narvekar handed over Rs 1,500 to Shirke as his share of the bribe amount.
