Air India, Central Railway are rink kings

Air India and Central Railway emerged victorious in the men's and women's categories respectively in the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana � 34th Victor D'Mello Annual Floodlit Rink Hockey Tournament.

Air India won the championship in grand style defeating Indian Navy 5-4. As many as nine goals were scored in the finale which was witnessed by a packed house at the WCG courts.

AI’s Shivendra Singh stole the limelight scoring three goals getting great support from Dhanraj Pillay and VS Vinaya who contributed with a goal each.

Indian Navy was relentless in their approach giving a tough fight as Sajeet Lakra netted two goals with Rana Pratap and Ved Prakash chipping in with a goal each.

At half time, the match was evenly poised with AI leading 2-1. Shivendra hit the all important goal to secure a well deserved victory for his team in the 33rd minute.

Central Railway clinched the women’s title beating Freunds 2-1. CR at half time were trailing 0-1, but fought back in the second half scoring two goals and not allowing their opponents to score a single goal.

Bhagyashree Agarwal scored for Freunds in the third minute whereas Renjita and Sarita Minz scored for Central Railway.
