BMC ropes in Akshay Kumar to increase 'Swachhata' ranking in Mumbai

Film actor Akshay Kumar has agreed to partner with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to promote cleanliness in Mumbai as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2018, civic officials informed today

To increase its Swachhata ranking, the Mumbai civic body has been trying to woo the citizens through various ways. While the civic body earlier asked the citizens to start downloading the swachhata application on their mobile phones and take up the survey, and now it is Akshay Kumar who would be promoting the Swachhata Sarvekashan. The civic body had requested Akshay Kumar to help him promote this cause so that more and more number of citizens could participate in this survey. The Swachha Sarvekashan has started from January 4 and will go on till March. The last time it was held, the city was not rated in the first ten. The civic officials are hopeful that the citizens participation will improve and it will be positive for their ranking.

The Swachh Survekshan 2018 will be carried out between January 4 to March 10 by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and it will rank urban and rural areas of the country on the basis of cleanliness.

BMC officials said the actor had given his consent after the municipal commissioner wrote to him on January 5 requesting his support for spreading the word about cleanliness in the metropolis.
