Quite a few celeb families have heard voices of dissonance with a star supporting one political party and his/ her family member supporting another. We look at few of them...

This election year has been as good as any as far as star show at Lok Sabha polls is concerned. While some stars are contesting elections, some others have been vocal about their political allegiance – be it by way of showing support on social networking sites or attending rallies. What’s interesting then is the fact that in quite a few celeb families, a discordant note has been struck thanks to the star’s family member choosing to represent/campaign/vote for another party. hitlist takes a look at the families of these B-towners where different voices seem to co-exist in harmony...

Anupam Kher has openly supported Anna Hazare and his movement, but he is now batting for Narendra Modi.

Earlier on, Anupam Kher . Pic/Rane Ashish (left) openly supported Anna Hazare. It’s only recently that he decided to bat for Narendra Modi, given that wife, Kirron Kher (right), is contesting Lok Sabha polls in Chandigarh on a BJP ticket


This is probably not surprising given the fact that the BJP gave his wife, Kirron Kher, the opportunity to fight for a Lok Sabha seat from Chandigarh.

In 1984, Amitabh Bachchan contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from Allahabad. But he resigned within three years. Later on, Big B started supporting his then friend, Amar Singh, and the Samajwadi Patry. Jaya Bachchan too joined the party and was elected as a Rajya Sabha member. She has also campaigned for the party.

The late Sunil Dutt was part of Congress for more than a decade and he even became a Cabinet Minister. After his demise, his daughter, Priya Dutt, took over the reins of his constituency. However, Sanjay Dutt went on to join Samajwadi Party in 2009 and he quit it in within a year. Back then, he said that he was quitting the party as it had mistreated senior member, Amar Singh.

Instead of following brother Chiranjeevi and joining Congress, Pawan Kalyan recently formed his own party called Janasena Party. He even came up with a slogan that went, “Congress hatao, desh bachao.” However, he has smartly stayed away from getting into a war of words with his brother and has not made any comments against him.

The actor is known to openly support BJP’s PM candidate, Narendra Modi. This, despite the fact that his mother-in-law, Nandini Alva, represents Janata Dal (Secular). Interestingly, he accompanied Alva during her earlier phase of campaigning in Bangalore. He even took part in road shows.

Actor-director-and-producer-turned politician, NT Rama Rao, served as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for three terms, but his son-in-law, Nara Chandrababu Naidu (also from Telegu Desam Party), and younger daughter, D Purandeshwari (who represents the BJP) are known to not get along with each other. In fact, Naidu a husband, Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao, have belonged to opposite camps for over 25 years; their rivalry is well-known. Purandeshwari has spoken against brother-in-law Chandrababu Naidu on multiple occasions and has even said that Naidu usurped her father’s legacy.
