Bollywood release dates set for a complete rejig after Padmavati gets postponed
Bollywood release dates set for a complete rejig after Sanjay Leela Bhansali is forced to postpone his magnum opus Padmavati
The decision to defer the release of Padmavati from December 1 has sent other Bollywood producers into a tizzy. With one of the biggest films of the year bowing out of the race, the release calendar is suddenly witnessing a rejig. Trade sources inform that Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Monsoon Shootout, which was slated for December 22 release, might now hit theatres a week earlier.
We hear the makers felt that it would be in their best interest to not clash with Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai and the postponing of Padmavati only made matters easier for them. A production insider informs, "December 15 looked liked a better date for them as the film could have a week-long run at the theatres before Tiger Zinda Hai arrived."

Meanwhile, Yoodlee Films' newest venture, Brij Mohan Amar Rahe has taken the December 1 slot. A source from Saregama tells mid-day, "We are bringing forward the release of Brij, since we believe we can showcase our film better on the available date."
Buzz is makers of Fukrey Returns too are eyeing the December 8 slot, instead of its original release date of December 15. As for Padmavati, the team is yet to zero on a final date for the film although rumours suggest February 14, if all goes well.
Besides seeing a change in release dates, one of the biggest fallouts of Padmavati's delay is the bleak balance sheet of 2017. A trade analyst, on condition of anonymity, says, "Though the smaller films have been the stars this year, a monetary correction in numbers can only be achieved with big ticket films like Tiger Zinda Hai and Padmavati."
