Bookies place bets on Elizabeth, Charles for royal baby names
Bookies are offering odds of 8/1 that the baby will be called Elizabeth after the Queen; Diana as a name for Prince William and Kate's first child is in fourth place at 12/1
Barely had the baby news been announced than people were asking what the new royal would be called.
Elizabeth, Victoria and Charles are among the favourite names for the new royal baby, according to the bookies.
Bets are already being taken on the name of the child, with Elizabeth chalked up as the 8/1 favourite.
Frances (10/1), John (10/1) and Charles (10/1) follow closely behind, but should the baby be a girl it’s a 12/1 chance she’s named after William’s mother.
Traditional names like Anne (12/1), Philip (14/1) and Edward (16/1) are also in with a shout.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said, “Kate and Wills pulled the wool over our eyes but now attention turns to the name of the baby and it looks like the couple will stick with a traditional name. If they’re expecting a girl who better to name her after than Her Majesty.”
Rival firm Paddy Power have Victoria and Mary at 8-1 as their favourite names. A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “There’s very little to choose from between the top ten or so names in the betting. Everyone will be waiting with baited breath to find out what the royal couple will name their first child but I’d imagine some of our punters will be paying closer attention than most.”
Among the outside bets are Harry at 33/1, Matilda at 100/1, Peaches at 500/1 and Brooklyn, the name of David and Victoria’s Beckham’s first born, at 1,000/1.
William Hill is also taking bets on the baby’s hair colour with odds of 6/4 brown, 2/1 blonde, 5/2 black and 8/1 ginger.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Wills-Kate could be expecting twins. The Duchess Of Cambridge spent a second day in hospital being treated for a morning sickness condition — linked to mums who have multiple births.
William returned to Kate’s bedside in the morning after his pregnant wife began a second day in hospital battling the severe morning sickness.
The Duchess, who is under 12 weeks pregnant, is expected to remain at the private King Edward VII hospital in central London for several days.
Wills and Kate had been hoping to keep the news they were expecting a baby secret until Christmas Day, it was reported.
But they were forced to make the announcement after she was admitted to hospital.

Royal tot is already most famous baby on Earth
The future royal baby has already been voted the world’s most influential tot months before he or she is even born. A survey found the future offspring of Prince William and Kate would have more brand power than any other child on earth. The future heir to the throne beat stiff competition from celeb royalty with Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby Blue Ivy coming second. Coming in a close third was the Beckham’s youngest child, Harper Seven, followed by Phoebe Gates (daughter of America’s richest man Bill Gates) in fourth.
