Victim, who objected after girls in his colony were harassed during the Navratri Mahotsav puja, was attacked and killed
A 19 year-old resident of Powai was attacked and killed after he raised his voice against 23 year-old Naresh Singh and his friends, for harassing girls during the Navratri Mahostav pujas.
The enmity between the victim Amir Jadhav and the accused Singh began during the Navratri festival. Singh and his friends often visited the pandal in Saki Vihar, Powai, where Jadhav lived.
On noticing that Singh was harassing the girls visiting the pandal, Jadhav confronted him and asked him to mend his ways. Regular scuffles would break out between the two.u00a0u00a0
On October 14, the two got into three brawls. At 9.30 pm, Jadhav went back to Singh to warn him about harassing the girls residing in Jadhav's colony, and the scuffle that ensued turned ugly.
The argument turned violent and Singh allegedly pushed Jadhav to the floor. Jadhav suffered a hard blow on his head and was rushed to the Holy Spirit hospital by his parents. He was declared dead on arrival.
Following investigations, the police arrested Singh, and took Jadhav's body to Rajawadi hospital for a post mortem.
Singh has been booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC and the Powai Police is investigating the case further.u00a0
