Pune's very own Rock band Strange Brew is all set to launch their Hindi album Khwaab

When I was introduced to Strange Brew, I yearned to hear their original compositions. Unlike other cover bands, they have a history of creating groovy originals including hits such as Free World and No Time among

But before all this came to the fore, Strange Brew which comprises of Michael 'Mike' Pereira, Sanjeev Pandhkar and Christopher 'Chris' Fonceca, had already composed songs for a Hindi album. After a span of 12 years, the album comprising these compositions finally sees the light of the day. The album, titled Khwab, features nine original tracks which were written by Siddharth and composed by Sanjeev, Jackie, Mike and Chris.

The current band features Mike (bass), Chris (guitar), Sanjeev (drums) and Prasad (vocals) alongwith Leo (keyboards). We quiz Mike on what took them so long to bring their hindi Rock album to their fans? "We just couldn't find the right singer. We met a lot of singers but all in vain. The album, hence, took a backseat and we started performing the English set. We finally met Prasad, who has been following Strange Brew's music, and when we asked him if he could sing for the band, he was happy to do so," informs Mike.

The band has recently shot a video for Khwaab. "Lyrically, there are a lot of themes that you will find in the songs. There are uptempo songs such as Khwaab and a few soft ballads. We recorded the songs in my studio, and they have been mixed by Ashish Manchanda, who is a renowned sound engineer in the Hindi film industry. He has worked on films like Dev D," shares Mike.

According to Mike, the songs will be up for free download on their website. "We will be uploading all the tracks on the album, one by one. We want people to give every track a good listen, and hence we won't be uploading all the songs at once," he adds. You can also hear their nine songs live on

On December 7, 8.30 pm onwards
At HighSpirits, Koregaon Park.
