BSP, SP hand in glove, encouraging corrupt, goondas: BJP

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh BJP today hit out at BSP and ruling Samajwadi Party accusing them of being "hand in glove" and "encouraging" the corrupt and goondas in the state.

During 2007 Assembly elections, BSP supremo Mayawati had announced that she would probe into the corruption of the then SP government and initiate action against those found guilty.

A similar promise was made by SP in the 2012 polls, state BJP chief, Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed. "Both had a tenure of five years but did nothing as per their promises only because they are hand in glove...both encourage the corrupt and goondas," he alleged.

Maurya claimed the "exodus" in Kairana was a result of "high-handedness of a particular section of society" as well as an issue concerning law and order. It is a serious matter even if one family has to migrate.

BJP's fact-finding team has gone to Kairana and a course of action will be decided only after getting its report, he said.

"Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has not brought the truth of Mathura before the people and is blaming media for Kairana. The government should come out open on the details of Kairana incident," Maurya alleged.

He also accused Mayawati of issuing contradictory statements, saying, "She demands imposition of President's rule after Kairana and demands CBI inquiry on Mathura incident... but at the same time charges the Centre of misusing CBI."
