Kolkata-based trainer Bharat Singh's Castlebridge will make his first appearance tomorrow at the Mahalaxmi racetrack. The promising Burden Of Proof - Castle Queen colt, who took three starts to break maiden jinx, has later won all his races except the Bangalore Derby which he narrowly lost to Manifold. His wire-to-wire style of running is another feature that sets him apart among the Classic hopefuls.

Castlebridge will be running in the Maharaja of Morvi Trophy on Sunday, and shapes as the best betting proposition of the card. But the current bookmaking trend of offering miserly odds on standout horses may render him un-bettable.
Of course, Castlebridge and his connections cannot take things completely granted as the Mahalaxmi racetrack in the past has proved to be treacherous for outstation horses, especially during their first encounter. But then Castlebridge has the class and form--and a partner in jockey Trevor Patel who knows the Mahalaxmi strip like the back of his palm. The only horse who may show dramatic improvement and attempt to run close to Castlebridge may be Bateleur from trainer Vishal Gaekwad's yard.
