The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a Sub-Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Assam's Simuluguri for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 6,500/- from a complainant.

A case was registered under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on the allegations that the sub-inspector demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 for releasing complainant's vehicle, which had hit barricade of railway crossing at Bihubari Road, Simuluguri, said an official statement.
The sub-inspector was later produced in a special CBI court in Guwahati.
