An unidentified person, who posed as a customer, made away with a gold chain worth Rs 70,000 from a jewellery shop located on Sinhgad Road on Wednesday afternoon.

“On Wednesday at 1.45 pm a person, who seemed to be in his 20s, entered the shop and expressed his willingness to buy gold ornaments,” shop owner Babulal Parmar said. “As soon as I realised that he has made away with the gold chain, I left the counter and ran after him. He, however, managed to escape.”
