Maharashtra Youth Congress president and son of state forest minister Patangrao Kadam’s son Vishwajeet has been announced as Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate from Pune constituency.
Chosen: Vishwajeet Kadam
Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, along with Congress MLA Vinayak Nimhan and MLC Mohan Joshi suggested Kadam’s name to the party high command. His name was announced after the party’s election committee meeting in Delhi.
Speaking to mid-day, Kadam said that he would try to ensure just handling of various city-related issues, including introduction of Metro, if he were elected as an MP from here.
“I am beginning my campaigning from today (Wednesday), and during this I will assess and attempt to work out basic problems of citizens,” said Kadam.
Replying to questions regarding Suresh Kalmadi, he said, “One person can’t tarnish the party’s image. Punekars know this fact very well, and they would keep their faith in Congress, which will be evident on voting day.”
