Drink-driving kills 2, injures 3 on E-way
An accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway killed two people and injured three yesterday.
The police said all the victims were drunk. The police said the victims were on their way to Mumbai in a Mahindra Scorpio.
The police said Lahu Patil (32) and Naresh Raje (27), residents of Taloja near Mumbai, died on the spot. The injured were admitted to Lokmanya Hospital in Nigadi. The police said the driver lost control over the vehicle near Lonavla, resulting in the car crashing into the divider and skidding towards a valley.
Two people were thrown out of the car and fell into the 100-feet-deep valley. “We found many bottles of liquor in the car,” PSI N P Kulkarni of the Khandala police said.
