Individuals with strong consciences are stepping up all around the world in order to help their fellow humans in need during the COVID-19 crisis. Esther Berg is the modern philanthropist who is using her network and talent to help those of whom are less fortunate. Berg's late father, Chaim "LOBO" Silber, was a global philanthropist who dedicated his life to helping others. LOBO has a lasting influence on Berg; his life's saying "L'olam yhai adam," always be a mentsch above all, informs her decisions every day.
Berg is currently focusing her energy where she is needed the most, and getting into the holiday cheer at the same time. Berg has organized a sanitary, 'COVID-19' safe toy and coat drive in order to help Jewish orphans in Odessa, Ukraine survive the brutally cold winter. Berg also has plans to donate toys to her local hospitals around Hanukkah.

One of the reasons why Berg is donating to this cause is because of her new role as a social media ambassador forTikva, which is an organization that provides resources to impoverished Jewish orphans in state orphanages in Odessa. In honor of her father, Berg actually dedicated a large contribution to the construction of a sports field during a mission trip to Odessa in the summer of 2019. The field was going to be unveiled this past summer, however, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Berg had to cancel her plans to travel to Ukraine. She plans on returning as soon as it is safe.
This is not Berg's first foray into philanthropy; her love of giving is enduring. She made her largest on-going contribution all the way back in 2007. Berg co-founded Couture for a Cause with her childhood friend Michal Weinstein. Her deep knowledge and love of fashion make Berg the optimal founder of a charity like Couture for a Cause. Due to the strength of their fundraising ability, as well as Berg's charm, the non-profit Jewish organization has worked with high-profile celebrities like Kara Janx of Project Runway, TV Personality Joan Rivers, Designer Christian Siriano, and Comedian Elon Gold as well as charities like Project Eliezer, Shirat Devorah Foundation, Renewal (a Jewish Kidney Foundation), Lev Laytzan, and many more. Couture for a Cause sincerely lives up to their motto, "Fabulous in Fundraising."
Despite giving to a plethora of causes, Berg gravitates towards charities that speak to her and her history. This is partially due to her desire to live life to the fullest as well as her desire to continue her father's mission. This is precisely why she continues to find new ways to help those in need, especially during these trying times. It truly can be said that she is the embodiment of her father's values and his life's purpose. Berg drives her father's values into the world every day by living by his example and motto.
