The accused claim they were hired by a lawyer who wants the victims' south Delhi house

The posh locality of Greater Kailash (GK) Part-I in south Delhi witnessed a family being abducted in broad daylight, with the security guards of the area acting as mute spectators. The GK police station is at a stone's throw from the house, where armed kidnappers struck. The house of a businessman, Ram Avtar Agarwal, where his servant lives with his family, was attacked by a gang of 15 hoodlums. They allegedly kidnapped the residents of the house and later dumped them in Badarpur, bordering Faridabad.

The incident took place on October 16, around 3 pm, in N-block, GK-I. Its owner, Agarwal, has employed Ram Niwas as caretaker. Niwas has been living with his wife and two kids, two security guards and three-four other people, in the three-storey building since January this year.

Agarwal runs a dry fruit business in Khari Baoli and had bought the property from one Ashok Bhadoria in 1989.
A police official said Niwas told them some unidentified persons broke inside the house and kidnapped his family members and other residents. When police reached the spot, three men, later identified as Sewa Ram, Rozu and Manoj Kumar, were found sitting there. They had broken the CCTV cameras installed in the house. During interrogation, they revealed they were sent by a lawyer named Manoj Agarwal, who wanted to take possession of the house.

Police have registered a case under IPC. Agarwal's son, an eyewitness, said, "Around 5-6 people broke the main gate and forced all residents into a carrier van. They then dropped us in Badarpur. There were three-four women among the kidnappers. They gave us Rs 5,000 and threatened us of dire consequences."

Child kidnapper nabbed
After a dramatic search for a two-and-a-half-year-old child, who was kidnapped from New Delhi, the police nabbed a youth who was taking him to Uttarakhand to sell him. The accused, identified as Narender Nath, is a member of a gang involved in kidnapping children to sell them. On Tuesday night, around 11 pm, a PCR call was made. "Inspector Sanjay then found a man in suspicious condition near railway station and nabbed him. The accused confessed and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody," said an official.
