The CCB has recovered Rs 1.3 lakh from them, and have sent them to judicial custody

With the arrest of seven persons, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) is claiming to have busted a gambling racket in KS layout yesterday, following several complaints from locals.

A source said that the gang has cheated people of more than Rs 25 lakh in the last two years. The police said that the youths would often change their location to avoid detection.u00a0 Allegedly, they have connections with bookies in Mumbai bookies. To keep the racket under wraps, they opened a tea stall at KS Layout.

The gang also has a civil court lawyer among them. Other gang members are chefs and cab drivers. The cops have recovered 26 mobile phones from this gang and papers with gambling numbers on them, along with Rs 1.3 lakh in cash.

A CCB source said that they would promise the gamblers eight times their money, and in this way, have cheated several people. Because of the illegal nature of their business, the victims, who mostly comprised of labourers, could not file a police complaint.

PSI Babu Narona, K S Layout police station said, "The accused used to change their locations in order to escape detection. We have arrested them and have sent them to judicial custody. Gambling is a growing menace which we mean to curb."
