Erica and Rory were actually just friends for a few years before Cupid’s arrow struck. “I think the nicest thing about Erica and my relationship is we started out as friends,” he was quoted as saying by Cool FM. The “friends” spent “Halloween together in 2014 and rest is history.
The 27-year-old admitted that Erica was hesitant about their relationship in the beginning, as she was “conscious” about putting him under pressure after the way things ended with his former fiancee Caroline Wozniacki.
“She didn’t want to pressurise me into anything because of what had went on with me, but I was all for it,” McIlroy was quoted by goss.ie.
McIlroy and Erica are set to wed next year and he says “everything is under control.”
Erica keeps saying, ‘It’s our day, not just my day’,” he added. Like they say, it takes two to tango.
