Cops said that they had details of their whereabouts and are hopeful of locating them at the earliest. The trio went into hiding in the dense forest area of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Malad (east), after the survivor had approached the police.

Police have also questioned their friends and family members to secure leads on their location. Dindoshi police said two of the absconding minors had criminal records with several cases of property offences registered against them. They have been identified as Azgar Afzal Khan, Arjun Selva Pillai and Rahul Bairagi.

Three held
Three of the accused were arrested on Tuesday, after cops tracked them down and nabbed them from Diva railway station when they were attempting to flee the city. The three arrested have been identified as Wasim Sayyed alias Katta (23), Yuvraj Pillai alias Surya (19), and Shivkumar Vishwakarma alias Kalva (19). Officials said that the arrested trio was planning to flee to Andhra Pradesh.

“The trio has confessed to the crime during their custodial interrogation. Once the three minors are also arrested, we will recreate the crime scene,” said a police official. Meanwhile, the minor girl’s medical reports arrived yesterday, which confirmed intercourse, said police officers. “The girl’s medical report has revealed that there are no abrasions, nail marks or any injuries on her body. We are investigating further,” the police official added.

New investigating officer
Police said investigations into the case had been handed over to an inspector-level officer from the Dindoshi police station. Sub-inspector D Dashime was the investigating officer in the case initially. The case will now be handled by police inspector Dilip Yadav, in light of the inquiry ordered by the zonal deputy commissioner of police to probe the delay in filing a first information report (FIR) in the case.

DCP Pravin Patil, on Tuesday, had recommended suspension for Dashime and inspector Bharat Gaikwad. Any decision, however, will be taken once the inquiry concluded, said a senior official. The girl, a Std-VIII drop out, knew the six accused since the past two years and resides in the same locality as them. On November 1, two of the accused called her to MHADA Bridge in Goregaon (east) for a puja to mark the occasion of Dhanteras, after which four of them took turns to rape her.
