After Sunil Chettri's move to Kansas City Wizards, Churchill Brothers defender Gouramangi Singh has been offered a trial by an Australian club, Melbourne Heart FC. The trials are scheduled from June 7-19 in Melbourne.
If he succeeds, he will become the fourth Indian player to ply his trade overseas. Gouramangi, who won the I-League's Defender Of The Year award last season, told Sunday Mid Day, "Every player dreams to play in better leagues. It is no different for me."
Melbourne Hearts will be making their debut in the A-League next season. Famous personalities like former Dutch international John van't Schip (head coach), ex-Man Utd winger Jesper Olsen (assistant coach) and Ante Milicic are associated with the club.
About the preparations for the trials, Gouramangi said, "In June, it will be winter in Australia, and playing in Goa, I am not really used to it. So, that's one thing I would need to overcome." Gouramangi's contract with Churchill Bros expires at the end of the current season. He was a member of the side that won the Nehru Cup in 2007 and '09.
