Anjuman-I-Islam Allana's (English) left-arm-spinner Jay Dave played the skipper's role to perfection as his all-round performance (126 runs & 5-39) against St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli) put the CST team in command on Day Two of the second round of the Harris Shield Elite Division inter-school tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

Yameen Soratya (110) supported his captain from the other end to help them post 462-7 in the first innings. Later, Jay’s fifer helped Anjuman bundle out the Borivli side for 104. Shahjeb Shaikh, who took four for 25 ably supported Jay.

“We lost our first round game to Hansraj Morarji by 30 runs. It was very important for us to perform well in this match.

I’m glad the team played well,” said Jay. Meanwhile, Rizvi Springfield tweaker Sidak Singh’s 4-39 helped the defending champions bundle out Hansraj Morarji (Andheri) for 170. The Bandra team scored 507-8 in their first innings.
