Money launderer's lawyer says he suffered a paralytic stroke in Arthur Road jail on Thursday; authorities rubbish claim
Hawala operator and the country's biggest tax evader Hassan Ali Khan, who is housed in Arthur Road jail, suffered a paralytic stroke on Thursday night, claimed his lawyer I P Bagadia. Jail authorities have dismissed his claim. 
As per the Sessions Court orders, Khan was being taken on a daily medical visit to the state-run JJ Hospital for the last four days. On Saturday too, he was taken to the hospital at 10.30 am. Authorities said he walked effortlessly and showed no signs of immobility.
"I have filed an application in the Sessions Court seeking permission to provide medical treatment to Hassan Ali outside the jail. The hearing is on Monday," said Bagadia.
Khan is facing charges of stashing away billions of dollars in foreign banks and has been slapped with a demand notice of close to Rs 70,000 crore by the Income Tax department. According to media reports, Ali was at the centre of a parallel banking network for corrupt politicians and executives and had devised a money- laundering mechanism that turned black money into legitimate earnings through the stock market.
He was arrested after the Supreme Court expressed its displeasure at the investigation carried out by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department.
The Bombay High Court had granted him bail on August 12, but the Supreme Court cancelled it on September 30.
