Head out for a space odyssey

Globally, October 4-10 is celebrated as World Space Week. This year is the 54th anniversary since the world zoomed into the space era with the launch of Sputnik in the erstwhile USSR. It's a great time to revisit our on-off love affair with all things above.

For one, Mumbaiites can hop across to two landmarksu00a0-- Nehru Science Centre and Nehru Planetarium, that have continued to play a huge role in educating and informing common folk about the marvels of space, India's evolution into the Space Age and its giant strides till date.

In fact, the Nehru Science Centre is India's largest interactive science centre and has completed 34 years of being the layman's ticket to the all things celestial. With over 50 hands-on and interactive science exhibits, timelines, historical artifacts of science and technology as well as the 3D Science Show, it remains a huge draw, as is the planetarium that is home to a truly spectacular space trip. Who needs to watch Star Trek reruns!
