Following in the footsteps of her co-actors, Karan Mehra (earlier, Naitik) and Rohan Mehra (Naksh), Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s lead actress Hina Khan (Akshara) is also set to make an exit from the daily soap. At the centre of the relationship drama for seven years, Hina is believed to be upset about the show’s focus shifting to a younger actress Shivangi Joshi (Naira). So now, she has been giving the unit a tough time, claim insiders.

Instead of replacing her, the makers have decided to eliminate her character from the show altogether, Hina’s co-actor confirms, requesting anonymity. “Her lack of punctuality and truancy have been a headache for the makers. Recently, she claimed to be suffering from dengue, but somehow managed to give interviews to channels.”

A crew member adds, “The writers have to constantly change the script since Hina is unavailable to shoot most of the time. Though currently serving notice period, she is being unprofessional by not showing up.”

Despite repeated attempts, Hina and the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi did not respond to calls and text messages.
