Rising Pune Supergiant off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is missing in action from Indian Premier League's 2017 season due to an injury, but he's still connecting with fans on a regular basis on social media on the T20 tournament and more.

Well, with Kolkata Knight Riders' 'pinch-hitting' experiment with West Indies spinner Sunil Narine turning opener working wonders, there are questions being asked if this could be a trend with other franchises following suit.

And one of Ashwin's fans asked him on Twitter recently if he would like to open the batting in IPL next season.

Ashwin wasn't stumped by the question. But like an 'opener' decided to play this one straight back behind the 'bowler'. He had a witty reply ready. He said that it wasn't just what he liked, but also the captain's that mattered.

But then what did the fan expect. For an half-volley like that would surely be hit out of the park by man known for his droll humour.

This isn't he first time that Ashwin has used humour to deal with fans and trolls.
