While Sairat was set in the interiors of Maharashtra, Dhadak starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor is based in Rajasthan. This is one the major differences in both the film. With Dhadak being an adaptation of Sairat, director Shashank Khaitan and his team have ensured to change things up accordingly. Ishaan and Janhvi struck up conversations with the locals of Udaipur when they first visited the place. They picked up nuances and accents of the local language. Mewari has been a rarity in Hindi cinema, and Shashank Khaitan thought it was best if the two leads of the film got well-versed with it before shooting began.

In fact, Ishaan went the extra mile to make his Rajasthani character (Madhu) look authentic and got his ear pierced for the same.

Janhvi, 21, told PTI that coming from a film family instilled a sense of maturity in her to understand the goings-on of showbiz. "It has helped me in a way that I understand mom's creative space, how to read situations in movies, what she considered good acting or bad acting. So, that has formed opinions for me as well. "Dad (Boney Kapoor) is a producer so I know what it's like for producers to deal with actors, be professional and respectful... Everything else that goes into filmmaking. It's made me more aware." Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak is scheduled to release on July 20.
