Angered that his fiancee had broken off their engagement, the 27-yr-old allegedly abducted her while she was on her way to college

Angered by her refusal to marry him, a 27-year-old kidnapped his 21-year-old girlfriend from CST railway station on Wednesday. Ramisa Banu (21), a resident of Crawford Market and a SYBSc student at JM Momin’s college in Bhiwandi had gotten engaged to Samik Shah (27), a resident of Pune in 2011. Banu was supposed marry Shaikh in December but had learnt of his criminal background, which resulted in her family breaking off the engagement that angered Shaikh immensely.

The abduction
According to an official from the CST GRP, Banu was last seen at 7 am on Wednesday. “The last call from her mobile was made to her father at 7 am from CST station asking for help following which her phone was switched off.” Worried about his daughter’s whereabouts, he approached the GRP and registered a case against Shaikh. Reacting on the complaint, the GRP filed a kidnapping case against Shaikh.

“During investigations, we learnt that Shaikh was continuously threatening Banu saying that he would upload vulgar photographs of her on a social networking site,” said a GRP official. Banu was afraid of him and even told the family about it. “We have formed several teams to trace the girl and only after we find them, will we be able to determine the actual truth,” said Surendra Deshmukh, senior police inspector, CST GRP.
